Plumbeous Redstart
The Plumbeous Redstart is a beautiful river-loving bird commonly found in the Himalayan region, including Uttarakhand. It prefers fast-flowing streams, rocky riverbanks, and forested mountain valleys. The male is easily recognized by its dark slate-blue body and striking chestnut-red tail, while the female has a grey body with a white throat and a reddish tail.
Cheer Pheasant
The Cheer Pheasant is one of the rarest and most distinctive pheasants of the Himalayas. Known for its long tail, elegant appearance, and soft grey-brown plumage with black markings, this bird is commonly found on steep grassy slopes, scrub-covered hillsides, and open forests. Himalayan Monal
The Himalayan Monal is one of the most spectacular and colorful birds of the Himalayas. It is the State Bird of Uttarakhand and is admired for the male’s dazzling metallic feathers that shimmer in shades of green, blue, copper, and purple. The female is more subdued in appearance, with brown and buff plumage that provides excellent camouflage in forest habitats.
Himalayan Griffon
The Himalayan Griffon is one of the largest and most powerful vultures in the world. Famous for its impressive wingspan and effortless soaring flight, this magnificent bird is commonly found in the high mountains of the Himalayas.
